If we focus on the offenders, there is a tendency to highlight the negatives about how their decision making process has failed them and the thought that they don’t deserve to be helped when they haven’t helped themselves.
Jesus never turned anyone - or will ever turn us - away.
One major factor here is the need to include the family in our thoughts and prayers. Invariably, the family is the innocent party and the ones who suffer the indignity of a loved one or bread winner behind bars.
We must never forget that we too have been forgiven and allowed to stand in the grace of God.
